ANDERSONVILLE — Mr. Kenneth Harvey Roberts, 59, of 248 Watermelon Road, Andersonville, Ga., died unexpectedly on Monday, April 4, 2016, in Bexar County, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The Rev.Thomas Woolsey and the Rev. Troy Fripp will officiate. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends frpm 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2016, in the chapel at Aldridge Funeral Services.
Mr. Roberts was born on Jan. 6, 1957, in Hollywood, Calif., to the late Mr. Franklin Roberts and the late Ima Leigh West Roberts. He served in the U.S. Marines and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Roberts worked as a professional truck driver for 33 years and most recently for Melton Truck Lines, a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based company. Mr. Roberts was known as a man who “never met a stranger” and loved to talk and tell his stories. A lifelong Atlanta Braves fan, Mr. Roberts loved to fish, camp, and attend his grandsons’ baseball games. Always a true family man, he loved his family most of all. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Americus, Ga.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Glinda S. Roberts; three daughters, Jodie Williams (Mark) of Pine Mountain, Ga., Michelle English (David) of Albany, Ga,, and Brandi Raybon (James) of Ellaville, Ga.; a son, Chris Solomon (Kim) of Albany, Ga.; four sisters, Gloria Gentry (Alton) of Hornbeck, La., Dean Trott (Lawrence) of Hornbeck, La., Debbie Carpenter (Mike) of Hornbeck, La,, and Melva Williams of Arkansas; two brothers, Roger Roberts of the state of Washington, and Pete Roberts (Mary) of Hornbeck, La.; four grandchildren, Chase Williams, Jagger Solomon, Cash Solomon and Ashton Raybon; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ansley Raybon.
