ALBANY — Transforming 2 Wellness Recovery Symposium 2016 will be held from noon-5 p.m. April 27 at the Mount Zion Baptist Church Family Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Albany.
According to Jere Brands, president of NAMI Albany, “The recovery symposium will host a large number of resource exhibitors.It will feature stories of recovery from mental health and substance abuse challenges and will give participants a voice in assessing availability of resources in this area.”
The Albany consortium event includes representatives from Aspire, SOWEGA Council on Aging, Phoebe Behavioral Health, Albany ARC, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, GraceWay Recovery Residence for Women, Turning Point Hospital, Department of Juvenile Justice, Albany State University, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Albany, NAMI Moultrie, Georgia Mental Health Consumer Network, Good Life Drumming Circle, and other individual volunteers.
Tony Sanchez, who is a person in long-term recovery, will serve as moderator for the symposium. Admission is free, but preregistration by April 20 is required for lunch. Preregistration can be done online at www.eventbrite.com/e/transforming-2-wellness-tickets-24169847665.
