McCorkles  entertain with family Easter dinner
On Saturday, March 26, Dwight and Mary Ellen McCorkle had the McCorkle family Easter Dinner a day before Easter. This family really enjoys getting together. Mary Ellen had a delicious meal and all the others brought covered dishes.
The dining room table was covered with a white linen table cloth with a lovely floral centerpiece. Extra tables had white linen table cloths as well.  There was a very large vase of white and yellow gladioli in the living room.
Those that attended were Billy and Elene McCorkle, Bill and Cookie Scheuler, Dwight and Bobby Scheuler, Bryant and Dianah Collins, Kale and Ray Hester, William and Emily McCorkle, Bobbie Snyder, Steve and Beth Warner and the hosts.

County historical society announces plans
Today at Springtime Ellaville downtown our local historical society has a booth on the street in front of the City Park across the street from The Pizza Place. We will have the memorial and honor plaques for you to see. There will applications there if you would like to purchase one or more. You do not have to be a member or resident to make a purchase. When you purchase a plate it will placed on the plaques. Buy in memory or honor of your family, loved ones  or friends. These plaques will be hung inside the renovated Courthouse that we are all so proud of.
The historical society is in need of history to help us update our history book. A lot has happened in 36 years since the last history book was printed and we’ve gotten some older history since the last book was released. We don’t want your original copies; just make  a copy as well as pictures with all the details of family lineage.

Local residents participate in Alaska tundra mission trip
On Friday, March 11, local missionaries left for the Alaska Tundra Mission Trip. The entire team flew into Nome, Alaska, and split into two teams. One team flew to Brevig Mission and the other team flew to Tellar, Alaska.
On Monday the teams reunited in Teller for the rest of the week. On Tuesday night a men’s night fellowship was held for the men in the village, sharing the gospel with music  provided by Wade Register. Wednesday night was ladies night with crafts, knitting, singing and  fellowship with the women and children of the village.
The nine-member team consisted of Mack Herrington, Bebe Herrington, Eddie and Sharon Watson, Tonie Barrette, Harriet Barfield, Troy Fripp, Al Eason and Wade Register.
They all returned home on March 29. The next trip is planned for June 17-25 and another trip in September. If anyone is interested in going and would like more information please call Mack Herrington at 229-938,7450 or Eddie Watson at 229-942- 4591.

Karen Montgomery to serve on board of health
On March 8, the Schley County Board of Commissioners held its monthly meeting, and appointed Karen Montgomery to serve on the Schley County Board of Health. Karen is a pharmacist at Gill’s Drug Store in Ellaville. She is a hometown person who was raised  in Schley County.
We all welcome Karen to the Schley County Board of Health.

Lori Taylor  honored with baby shower
At  p.m. Sunday April 3, Lori Taylor was honored with a baby shower in the Ellaville United Methodist Church Social Hall. Lori and her husband Josh Taylor are looking their daughter in May.
The serving table was covered with a white linen table cloth and featured a lovely arrangement of flowers. Finger foods were served with red cherry punch. The dessert table was covered with a white linen table cloth.
As guests entered they signed in by placing their finger prints onto the guest book with finger paints along with their name.
Tables were placed to display all the gifts she received at this special even.

Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion  celebrates 97 years
On March 17 the Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 American Legion celebrated its 97th birthday. It was started in 1919, after World War I.
The American Legion building was built in 1944. The Thomas Edwin Wall Post 191 was established on Feb. 17, 1947, after World War II. When they started they had 25 members, and the Auxiliary was established on Jan. 2, 1948, with 12 member. Today the Legion has 102 members.
The Auxiliary always does the meals for special event like this celebration. They served roast beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuits, coffee and tea and served birthday cake for dessert.
