Patient impressed with Phoebe Sumter
I was recently a patient at the Phoebe Sumter outpatient clinic to have a meniscus repair. Lately, all I have heard is negative on the hospital, but I want to go on the record to say that my stay though brief was a very pleasant venture. From my nurses Lisa and Laurie to surgical nurse Amy and Gail and of course Dr. John Fennessy, who did an excellent job on my knee. During my stay they went beyond the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable while I was there. They reassured me all the time, made sure I was aware of the situations around me. Today, when there are criticisms of the hospital, I want to be known that this institution is an asset that is very much needed in our area. You may be critical now but when the time comes I am sure that Phoebe Sumter Medical will be there for you. I am so glad that I went to the medical center and hospital for my care. Thank God we have this hospital around.

A great way to honor Schley students
Each year, the Schley County Family Connection Collaborative hosts a community luncheon to honor the Valedictorian, Salutatorian and STAR Student and STAR Teacher. I would like for you to join us in this celebration and to show your support for these students and our community on Thursday, May 26, 12:00 Noon at the Mitchell E. Ellis Municipal Center. With the continued support of our community, the 2016 Valedictorian, Salutatorian and STAR Student will each receive a Technology Award during the meeting.
One of the first purchases a college student will need to make is a laptop computer for classes. This annual award will provide the Valedictorian, Salutatorian and STAR Student with a check to purchase the laptop computer of their choice.  Each student can then purchase additional supplies such as a book bag, printer, software and accessories on their own with less financial difficulty.
There are very few local annual awards and scholarships given to our Valedictorian, Salutatorian and STAR Student in Schley County each year. Last year, Sobia Bhatti, Valedictorian and STAR Student and Whitney Worth, Salutatorian were the second students to receive this annual award.
This annual technology award will show our community appreciation of the hard work and dedication of these great students throughout their career in the Schley County School System.
To show our support, The Schley County Family Connection Collaborative is pledging $200 for this annual award.
In order to show your support for our students and our community, please consider making an annual contribution of $25, $50, $100 or match our pledge of $200 to make this award possible.
Please make your contribution payable to the Schley County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 606, Ellaville, GA  31806.  The foundation is a 501C3 and your donation is completely tax deductible.  Simply call the foundation at 937-5708 and ask for a receipt. Please remember to write 2016 Technology Award on your check.
For the past 25 years, you and our community have made it possible for us to make a significant difference in the lives of children and families in Schley County.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and support for this annual technology award. This is a great way to show your community support of the Schley County School System and to reward our Valedictorian, Salutatorian, and STAR Student for their dedicated work.
