AMERICUS, Ga. — Mr. John L. Goodrum, age 90, of 104 Southland Ridge Drive, Americus, Ga., died Sunday, April 24, 2016,  at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. Father Don Hutchins will officiate. The family will receive friends following the memorial service.
Mr. Goodrum was born June 24, 1925, in West Palm Beach, Florida, the son of the late Oscar Jefferson Goodrum and the late Eloise Wright Goodrum Black. Mr. Goodrum worked for Georgia Power for 40 years, where he started as a line crew helper and retired as a district line supervisor. He was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II. He was of the Anglican Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Fenn Goodrum of Americus, Ga.; one daughter, Catherine G. Scott and her husband Mark of Lagrange, Ga.; two sons, John L. Goodrum Jr. and his wife Carolyn of Mobile, Ala., and Robert J. Goodrum and his wife Vicky of Americus, Ga.; as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Goodrum was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Goodrum, and a brother, Oscar J. Goodrum Jr.
