JSL Mighty Machines fundraising event gains momentum

AMERICUS — The Junior Service League of Americus announces plans for its spring fundraiser, Mighty Machines: A Family Safety and Learning Expo, which will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, May 21,at the Sumter County Parks and Recreation Department Sports Complex on U.S. Highway 19 South, rain or shine.
Planning is in full swing and several special attractions have been confirmed. GTIPI’s Rollover Simulator was donated by to the University of Georgia by the Ford Motor Co. The machine demonstrates a rollover accident, one of the most deadly of all car crashes. Through injury prevention and education, GTIPI aims at reducing the number of injuries and crashes while focusing on seat belt safety. Their education program now includes major focus on child safety seats, teen driving and senior driving.
There will be a Child Passenger Safety Car Seat Check. This is an opportunity for parents to drive up and the Georgia State Patrol and Family Connection Coordinator for Sumter County will check to see if seats are installed properly and if there has been a recall on their car seats. They will also briefly educate parents about child passenger safety.
Connor Clements with Fuller Housing will be accepting old, broken kid’s bikes to refurbish and give away to kids in our community. He will also have a drawing to give two of his refurbished bikes away at Mighty Machines!
SOWEGA CASA will be raffling off a playhouse (sponsored by the JSL of Americus) at Mighty Machines. Tickets are 1for $10 or 3 for $25 and sales will be going on until noon. The drawing will be at 1 p.m.  You do not have to be present to win.
Mighty Machines tickets are $5 per person (age 1 year and under admitted free) and will be available for purchase from active league members or at the gate the day of.
