Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 13 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to Frieda Lane to a report of a woman locked out and a pot left on the stove. They got the door open but there was no pot left on the stove.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Bumphead Road. A school employee told them they were testing the duct alarms and accidentally activated the fire alarm.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Barbara Battle Way. Upon investigation, they found burned spots on one of the seats where the battery had arced and touched a metal rod in the seat and the battery appeared to be too tall for the vehicle.
• Firefighters responded to Barnum Drive to report of a smoke odor. They found smoke inside the house and that the blower motor on the A/C unit was bad.
• Firefighters responded to Armory Drive to a report of a structure fire. After forcing entry, they found a fire in the kitchen above the stove and found it had spread to the attic. After extinguishing the fire, they ventilated the structure.

Arrests
• Trenedrick C. Bishop, 23, of 205 E. Lester St., Americus was arrested on a bench warrant  and is charged with entering auto with intent to commit theft or felony, obstruction of law enforcement officer, felony first-degree burglary, loitering, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, and was jailed.
• Darrius M. Daniels, 20, of 601-C Eastview Circle, Americus is charged with simple battery, and was jailed.
• Deririck J. Davis, 34, of 840 Railroad St., Americus is charged with misdemeanor theft shoplifting, and was jailed.
• Brandon C. Ford, 35, of 191 Arlington Terrace Extension, Americus is charged with illegal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana, and was jailed.
• Willie J. Ford, 59, of 423 Hosie Waters St., Montezuma is charged with operating a motor vehicle while registration is suspended, canceled or revoked, driving while unlicensed and no proof of insurance.
• Erica P. Harper, 23, of 429-P Forrest St., Americus is charged with criminal trespass, and was released on bond.
• Rae A. Johnson, 39, of 129 Rabbit Branch Road, Americus is charged with possession of cocaine, and was jailed.
• David S. King, 26, of 517-B Bessie Mays Circle, Americus is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine and financial transaction card fraud, and was jailed.
• Rosa L. King, 32, of 103-A Waitsman Drive, Americus is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
• Oscar L. Lester, 26, of 894 Young’s Mill Road, Plains is charged with battery, felony first-degree burglary and second-degree cruelty to children, and was jailed.
• Kayshon Q. Lyles, 19, of 134 Town Creek Circle, Americus was arrested on a bench warrant, and was jailed.
• Keshia M. Mullins, 31, of 431 Mayo St., Americus is charged with failure to report a traffic accident and driving while unlicensed.
• Jaelyn Outlaw, 17, of 1022 Hancock Drive, Americus is charged with entering auto with intent to commit theft or felony and criminal trespass, and was jailed.
• Andrew Sylvester of Americus is charged with improper left or right turn.
• Darren J. Trice, 30, of 83 Barbara Battle Way, Americus is charged with theft by shoplifting and probation violation, and was jailed.
• Jamal R. Welborn, 23, of 405 Academy St., Americus is charged with theft by shoplifting, and was jailed.
• Desie Arnez Williams Jr., 18, of 133 Hosanna Circle, Americus is charged with seat belt violation and driving while unlicensed.
• Gonzella Yancie, 57, of 336 E. Centerpoint Road, Preston is charged with DUI (fourth offense), endangering a child while driving under the influence of alcohol, striking a fixed object, failure to maintain lane, open container and driving while license is suspended or revoked, and was jailed.

• Homer D. Jenkins, 60, of 668 J.L. Black Road, Preston is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.
• Earl W. Moore, 23, of Richland is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

Georgia State Patrol Post 10, Americus

Arrests
• Elton M. Mitchell, 22, of 292 DeSoto Seed Farm Road, DeSoto is charged with driving while is suspended or revoked and speeding (61 mph in a 45 zone), and was released on bond.
• Tony A. Stewart, 30, of Decatur is charged with violation of child  support order, and was jailed.

Schley County  Sheriff’s Office

Arrest
• Anthony H. Wills, 47, of 100 Hayes Ave., Apt. 5, Americus is charged with misdemeanor failure to appear in court for a finger printable charged and misdemeanor deposit account fraud, and was jailed.

Sumter County Fire & Rescue

• Firefighters responded to a woods fire on Pryor Cobb Road.
• Firefighters responded to Allen Chappell Road where they removed a tree from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Sunset Park Drive caused by something being left on the stove.
• Firefighters installed smoke detectors as a public service on Joe Harper Road Extension and on Fern Street.
• Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire on Thomas Street. Food left in the oven set off the smoke detector.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Popwell Drive and Ga. Highway 27 East.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on U.S. Highway 280 East where they found a fire in the oven. They removed the stove from the residence and ventilated the structure.
