Americus to hold First Friday event June 3

AMERICUS — On Friday, June 3, Americus will hold its monthly “First Friday” downtown-wide open house from 5-8 p.m. Some events may stretch into the night and everyone is invited to enjoy “First Friday After Dark.”
New for this month is the addition of the Americus Trolley. The trolley will make a loop of the event with four stops throughout downtown and is free of charge. Restaurants, shops and businesses will host a variety of activities ranging from live music and art exhibits to discounts and free samples. All activities, exhibits and performances are free of charge. Residents are invited to spend the evening strolling the streets of downtown and experience the city’s scene and culture. Maps and playbills detailing the evening’s events will be available at participating locations. Anyone and everyone is invited and welcomed.
Live Music for this June event will include Picken’ & Grinnin,’ an open jam by the Southeast Bluegrass Association, to be hosted at the City Grill. Bittersweet Cafe will be hosting a live Jazz performance. “Two Old Sinners” will be playing at Hunter Frames and Artist Studio. Center Stage Market will be hosting a live music performance as well.
The Americus Center for the Arts will be hosting an artist reception with Jualiann Ewing from5-6 p.m. After the reception, guests are invited to stay for a drum jam and hot glass demonstrations. Center Stage Market will be hosting an art show along with free samples to accompany their live music. The Rylander Theatre is inviting everyone in for a tour. Cafe Campesino will have a free yoga class from 7-8 p.m.
Nearly all of the downtown shops, stores and restaurants will be open and offering special and discounts. The Maze, Minick Interiors, Rustic Charm and Allie’s Boutique will all be giving samples and discounts for the entire event. Sweet Georgia Baking Co. will also have delicious food available.
This event is organized by the First Friday Association of Americus (FFA). The primary mission of the FFA and the First Friday events is to cultivate downtown Americus’ economic and cultural enrichment by providing a platform for entertainment and social engagement to the general public on a regular basis.
