• Firefighters responded to Allen Chappell Road where they removed a tree from the roadway.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Sunset Park Drive caused by something being left on the stove.
• Firefighters installed smoke detectors as a public service on Joe Harper Road Extension and on Fern Street.
• Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire on Thomas Street. Food left in the oven set off the smoke detector.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Popwell Drive and Ga. Highway 27 East.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on U.S. Highway 280 East where they found a fire in the oven. They removed the stove from the residence and ventilated the structure.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Quail Trail where they found something had been burned on the stove.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Lee Street.
• Firefighters responded to a vehicle-deer accident on Ga. Highway 195 North.

• Eleuterio C. Arcos, 42, of 1169 Ga. Highway 49 North, Americus is charged with first-degree cruelty to children and third-degree cruelty to children, and was jailed.
• Kelvin G. Arnett, 47, of Homeland is charged with driving while license is suspended or revoked, and was released on bond.
• Darolyn J. Askew, 25, of Fort Gaines is charged with driving under the influence of drugs, illegal possession of a controlled substance and possession and use of drug related objects, and was jailed.
• Damion M. Burns, 38, of 208 Jackson St., Plains is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.
• Terell Cannon, 33, of 229 E. Rockhill Drive, Americus is charged with harassing communications and terroristic threats and acts, and was jailed.
