ALBANY – The Albany State University (ASU) Department of Athletics has recently announced its Spring Semester 2016 S.A.M.E. (Student-Athletes Maintaining Excellence) list.
The list is divided into two categories; the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and the Coaches’ Honor Roll.
The Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognizes the student-athletes who achieved a semester grade-point average between 3.5-4.0. The Coaches’ Honor Roll is designated for the student-athletes whose semester GPAs are between 3.0-3.49.
“We are very proud of the effort these student-athletes put forth in the classroom during the spring semester,” Dr. Richard Williams, ASU Director of Athletics, said. “It is evident that these student-athletes are committed to academic excellence, and we commend them on a job well done.”
The Athletic Director’s Honor Roll features 27 student-athletes, while the Coaches’ Honor Roll lists a total of 55. In addition, ASU Baseball players, Michael Byron, Payton Dixon and Levi Koebel, as well as football player, Ferdinand Aka, generated perfect GPAs during the semester.
Aka is a freshman majoring in technology management. Byron is a senior majoring in Health/Human Performance. Dixon is a sophomore majoring in middle grades education. Koebel is a freshman majoring in biology.
