NEWNAN — Ms. Celestine Peace Young, age 64, of 201-B E. Dodson St., Americus, passed away June 3, 2016, where she was surrounded peacefully by her family at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Newnan, Georgia. A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Will Rayborn will officiate.
Celestine Peace Young was born March 25, 1952, in Waycross, Georgia. Celestine was a lifelong educator who devoted her life to her three children, and later, her three grandchildren. Because of her passion for education, she strongly encouraged and motivated her children to seek out the highest possible levels of education. Celestine was diagnosed with cancer and four weeks later passed away peacefully.
She was an avid Braves fan. She loved to travel, especially to the beach or mountains. She was an excellent cook. She took pleasure in gardening, as well as nature.
Celestine was a strong, independent woman with a broad and eclectic love for music. Her sense of humor, quick wit, infectious and contagious laughter, brought joy to all who knew her. She had a huge heart and accepted everyone without judgment.
Her three grandchildren brought her tremendous joy; being their  “Mimi” was the light of her life.
During her one year of retirement, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Because of her passion for education, the family respectfully requests considering donating to the “Celestine Young Memorial Fund” that will be set up at Wells Fargo Bank. This fund will be used for the college education of her three grandchildren, allowing her education to carry on for generations.
Survivors include her mother Ms. Vonice Lee Nelson; daughters Lorrie Ledger and her husband Clint Ledger of Leslie, Ga., Crystal Cheek of Americus, Ga., son Brandon Davis of Ellaville, Ga.; three sisters: Lawanna Bennett, Sandra Peace, Deborah Peace; and two brothers: Bobby Peace and Folma Peace. Other survivors include her three grandchildren: Kaitlyn Davis, Avery Ledger, and Mattie Cheek.
She will be missed daily. However, we are comforted by the fond memories we have of her and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
