Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 31 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to Elm Avenue to a report of a smoking exterior AC unit. They found an overheated motor in the unit inside.
• Firefighters responded to Ridge Street to a report of wires brought down by a semi truck.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. They found no fire or smoke but smelled smoke. On the roof, they found two of the five AC units not working, and wires melted.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on North Lee Street where they ascertained that a dusty smoke detector was probably the problem.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Davenport Street.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Swett Avenue caused by a leak in the sprinkler system.
• Firefighters were dispatched to Rose Avenue in response to a report of a gas leak. It was determined the odor was coming from the IMC fertilizer plant.

• Clarence T. Barker, 19, of Riverdale is charged with DUI.
• Johnny C. Barker Jr., 41, of 205 E. Rockhill Subdivision, Americus is charged with disorderly conduct.
• Walter N. Carter, 26, of 1130 Ridge St., Americus is charged with open container, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacture/distribution or possession of controlled substances in, on or near public parks or housing projects, and seat belt violation, and was jailed.
• Kelby D. Colbert, 30, of 141 Brady St., Buena Vista is charged with failure to yield at stop sign after stopping and driving while license is suspended or revoked.
• Devontae M. Cradic, 19, of 538 Oak Ave., Americus is charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, two counts of obstruction of law enforcement officer, entering auto or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or felony, felony theft by taking (automobile), and was jailed.
• Jarkell D. Fann, 21, of 1334 Second Montgomery St., Americus is charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.
• Ja’kerria S. Hurley of 156-B Forest Park Road, Americus is charged with failure to yield while turning left.
• Willie A. Lockhart Jr., 53, of 701 Davenport St., Apt. 2-B, Americus is charged with non-compliance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and was jailed.
• German G. Lopez of 748 Felder St., Americus is charged with driving while unlicensed.
• William G. Pennington, 56, of 1308 Ridge St., Americus is charged with battery (Domestic Violence Act), and was released on bond.
• Trevone D. Thomas, 19, of 503 W. Church St., Americus is charged with felony theft receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed weapon and reckless conduct, and was jailed.
• Amanda S. Traywick, 36, of 1308 Ridge St., Americus is charged with battery (Domestic Violence Act), and was jailed.
• Justin J. Velez, 23, of Providence, La., is charged with failure to stop at stop sign and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and was jailed.
• Jamal R. Welborn of 405 Academy St., Americus is charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting (second offense).
• Adrian Whitehead, 25, of 713 Ton Gailey Plaza, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.
• Antonio E. Woods, 39, of 220 Horton Drive, Americus, was arrested in a warrant for simple battery, and was jailed.
• Antonio Worth, 31, of 106 Foster St., DeSoto is charged with misdemeanor theft by shoplifting.

• Steve A. Toms, 27, of 1105 Sam Rogers Road, Smithville is charged with driving under the influence of multiple substances, driving while license is suspended or revoked, and running a red light, and was jailed.
