Second Annual Night for Hope raises funds to fight cancer locally

AMERICUS — The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia’s second annual fundraising event raised proceeds of more than $5,400 to fight cancer locally.
“Every dollar donated to the Cancer Coalition helps to support our work right here,” said Coalition CEO Diane Fletcher.
The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia provides cancer-related services, education, research and outreach exclusively in our area’s communities.
The special event, held on May 5 at the Lee Council House in Americus, featured heavy hors d’ oeuvres,dessert, a silent auction and live musical entertainment by Joey Recker. Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to learn about the Cancer Coalition’s mission and its work in the community.
Fletcher stated, “We are extremely grateful to our corporate partners Keystone Foods/Equity Group, Southeastern Credit Union, DOCO Credit Union, Georgia Power and Regions Bank, to our presenting sponsor, Phoebe Sumter, and to our other sponsors AfterHours Care of Americus Inc., Agrium US Inc., Finnicum Motor Co., First State Bank, Georgia Southwestern State University, and Louis A. Riccardi, D.D.S., P.C. & N, Alexandra Riccardi, D.M.D for their generous support.”
Fletcher also expressed appreciation to volunteers Billie Gatewood, Shelly Sullivan and the Pink Pals support group.
