ATLANTA — Recognizing the economic contributions that solar, natural gas, propane, biomass, electric power and wind have contributed to Georgia’s clean energy growth, Public Service Commissioner Tim Echols is hosting a series of public seminars around the state through June 24 alongside municipal, county, and other local elected officials and top business executives representing fleets and clean energy companies.
This is a free event, and the public is welcome to attend.
Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) will host the Americus site from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, June 22. Area businesses in Sumter County have replaced traditional power resources with solar panels, and an electrical vehicle charging station was added to the city municipal building in downtown Americus. A project is also underway with the National Park Service at Andersonville National Cemetery to convert mowers and trucks to use propane, and the first solar panel in Georgia was used in this area and is in the Leslie, Georgia Telephone Museum.
The Clean Energy Roadshow will visit eight cities from Dahlonega to Savannah and highlight Georgia’s energy outlook and the advancements in vehicle technology, agricultural equipment and clean power generation that bring cost-cutting and revenue generating opportunities to local governments and private industry.
“I started the Clean Energy Roadshow to help business and local governments learn more about alternative fuels and clean energy” said Commissioner Echols. “This 6th annual event will focus on sustainable practices, vehicles and energy technologies that are working for cities, schools, businesses and transit.”

Each stop on the Roadshow will focus on the economic development benefits and strategies for funding new technologies in vehicles, equipment and energy generation.
