AMERICUS — Mr. Robert Duncan McNeill, III, age 89, passed away on Thursday evening, June 23, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
Funeral services are planned for 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Rowe and the Rev. C.G. Haugabook officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Members of the Epworth Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born Oct. 6, 1926, he was a son of the late Robert Duncan McNeill Jr. and Orlean Ansley McNeill. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of the American Legion. For 60 years he was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where he served as church treasurer and on the board of stewards, and a member for 20 years at First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Lynn McNeill of Americus; one son, R.D. “Bob” McNeill (Sandra) of Chula, Ga.; one daughter, Lynne McNeill Anderson (Jimmy) of Toccoa, Ga.; grandchildren: Ashley McNeill Whitmire of Knoxville, Tenn., William “Bill” McNeill (Lindsay) of McLean, Va.; one brother, J.A. McNeill (Ellen) of Americus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
