PRESTON — Mr. Johnnie Milner Hunter, age 68, of 1571 Harry Road, Preston, passed away July 4, 2016, at his residence. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016,  in the chapel of Enterprise Baptist Church of Richland, Ga. The Rev. Tim Cadenhead and the Rev. Robert Orr will officiate. Interment will follow at noon at Andersonville National Historic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 6 in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. Family will also receive friends at the residence located at1571 Harry Road in Preston.
Mr. Johnnie Milner Hunter was born June 26, 1948, in Americus, Georgia. Mr. Hunter served in the United States Army. He completed two tours in Vietnam. He retired after 20 years of service. He was part of the 11th Armored Calvary’s Veterans of Vietnam and Cambodia. He was a past member of the VFW Post 3615 in Ruston, La. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 191 in Ellaville, GA. He was retired from the City of Americus, where he served as a corrections officer. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church in Richland, Ga. He was also a member of the Kinchafoonee Wildlife Club.
Mr. Hunter was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Milner Hunter and Mrs. Virginia Harrison Hunter, and one brother, Tracy Hunter. Survivors include his beloved wife Mrs. Sandra Simmons Hunter; one son Tony Milner Hunter and his wife Michelle of Bossier City, La.; one daughter Amy Hunter Tallent and her husband Ben of Americus, Ga. Mr. Hunter is survived by five sisters: Linda Clark (Wilbur) of Albany, Ga., Vickie Shilling of Leesburg, Ga., Jeanette Harry (Buddy) of Preston, Ga., Jeannie Holloway (Steve) of Sylvester, Ga., and Tammie Hunter of Sylvester. He is also survived by three brothers: Jackie Hunter (Philda) of Georgetown, Ga., Dennis “Dickie” Hunter (Joey) of Sylvester, Ga., and Mike Hunter (Sean) of Americus, Ga. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Blake Milner Hunter of Bossier City, La., and Gracie Tallent of Americus, Ga.
