Ellaville Lions Club sponsors annual Children’s Fishing Rodeo
On June 11, the Ellaville Lions Club sponsored its annual Fishing Rodeo for children from 8 a.m.-noon at Bobby Miller’s pond in Schley County. There were 47 children who participated in the event.
The Lions Club always gives three trophies: 1st Place for the largest fish caught; 2nd and 3rd places are in age groups (ages 1-7 and 8-15).
The 1st place winner went to 5-year-old Presley Felker whose fish weighed 6.48 lbs.
The 2nd Place winner was Jaycee Felker, 4, who caught most in his age  group.
The 3rd Place winner was 10-year-old Jamieson Gregory who caught 29 fish.
The total fish caught were 270.
Each year this is advertised in the paper and it’s free to enter for the children. They caught more catfish  than any other kind.
Men from the Lions Club helping with the rodeo were Chad Childs, Jim Sellars, Will Sellars, Dennis Jones, Jody Dillard, Lemuel Streetman and Bobby Miller.

Ellaville-Schley  Historical Society committee meets
The Ellaville-Schley County Historical Society’s phone and information committee met June 21 at the home of Nancy McMath Young. This special meeting was called to discuss special events. All of these upcoming events are for everyone, members and non-members, from far and near.
We will be having our yearly fundraiser, the auction, on Sept. 17. More information will be made available later.
History is needed to put into the upcoming history book. We need information on family lineage, businesses, churches, school and much more.
You do not have to be a member to donate  any history, family lineage, or donations for the historical museum. Please make a donation for the auction. We are tax deductible and all you have to do is ask for a receipt.
For more information call me at 229-937-2116.
