AMERICUS — Mrs. Gwen Picquet, age 62, of 115 Lawhorn Circle, Americus, Ga.,  passed away peacefully on July 13, 2016, at her residence. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev.  Damon Fountain and the Rev. Sims Jones will officiate. Interment will follow at Lebanon Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. Family will also receive friends at the family residence: 115 Lawhorn Circle, Americus, Ga.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Scott Hudson, Brian Roberts, Jamie Cox, Emilio Hernandez, Warren Swinson, and Jason Shockley.

Gwen Picquet was born May 12, 1954, in Tift County, Georgia. Gwen graduated with a technical degree in both cosmetology and culinary arts. Gwen loved everyone. The members of WE Inc. held a special place in her heart. After 10 years of dedicated service, Gwen recently retired from teaching in the GSW Pre-K program. She was a dedicated member of Eastside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, John McElroy, and her mother, Betty McElroy. Survivors include her beloved husband, Bennie Picquet and three children, Kim Wright (Keith) of Leslie, Ben Picquet (Ashley) of Americus, and Lindsey Picquet (Erin Albury) of Perry, Florida. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Gavin, Zander, and Jaxon Wright and Lexie and Braden Picquet. Other survivors include two sisters and three brothers: Charles  McElroy (Beth), Joe McElroy (Marie), Hilda McElroy, Andy McElroy, and Marcia Roberts (Stan). Numerous other family member also survive.
