AMERICUS — Mr. James “Boy” Osborne, age 88, of 1145 Ga. Highway 280 East, Americus, Ga., passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, graveside, at Oak Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Wendy Peacock and the Rev. Mike Truitt will officiate. The family will receive friends at the residence located at 1145 Ga. Highway 280 East, Americus, Ga., on Tuesday.

Mr. Osborne, a native of Sumter County, was born Dec. 17, 1927, son of the late Otis Osborne and the late Maggie Maxey Stribling. He owned and operated for over 50 years, Osborne’s Beauty Shop. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and a member of American Legion Post number two. He had one special friend, Bill W., who saved his life in 1978. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Daniel Osborne, of Americus; two daughters, Dana and Walter Rylander of Americus and Anne and Spencer Davis of Albany, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kent Kobs and wife Kristy of Americus, Leslie Kobs of Leesburg, Ga., and Lindsey Davis Bryan and her husband Michael of Atlanta, Ga., and Kelly Davis of Valdosta, Ga.; he is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Landon Spivey, Sydnee Kobs, and Kason Kobs, all of Americus, Ga., and a number of nieces and nephews survive.

Mr. Osborne was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence Osborne, Virginia Holloway, and Mary Helen Savona. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Phoebe Sumter Hospice located at 126 E Furlow St., Americus GA 31709.
