ELLAVILLE— Ground was officially broken for construction of a new wing at Schley County Elementary School in Ellaville Wednesday.
For many years, the  kindergarten and pre-k programs have been housed at the Schley County Board of Education building in Ellaville.  Trailers have served as classrooms at both buildings for a number of years.
This new wing will not only replace those trailers, but bring all of Schley County’s pre-school and elementary school-age children under one roof.
This construction is made possible through the collection of SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) funds and other previously collected State funds.
“Thanks to the generous support of the community, we are able to pay for these projects using funds that have already been raised,” Superintendent Adam Hathaway told the crowd at Wednesday’s groundbreaking.
