AMERICUS — Mr. Walton Kenneth Grant, age 66, of 129 Sharon Circle, Americus, Ga., passed away surrounded by family on July 30, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. The Rev. Hugh Harbort will officiate. A committal service will be held at 4 p.m. at Tift Memorial Gardens, 1754 Ga. Highway 82 East, Tifton, Ga. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, in the chapel of Aldridge Funeral Services. Family will also receive friends at the residence, 129 Sharon Circle, Americus, Ga.

The following will serve as active pallbearers: Warren Tyler, Steve Wurtz, Ricky Bearden, Sammy Bledsoe, Allen Erkhart, and Larry Macquirter. Honorary pallbearers include the following: Wade Halstead, Ed Munn, Les Smith, Richard McCorkle, Barry Blount, Carla Cook, Lou Chase, and Paula Martin.

Walt Grant was born July 12, 1950, in Forsyth, Ga. Walt was also employed for 26 years by the former Sheffield Hardware of Americus, Ga. He was the former owner of H & W Bait and Tackle. He also served on the Americus City Council for 21 years. He was also a member of the fraternal organization “Jaycees.”

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Cullen Grant and his mother Ruby Elizabeth Little Grant. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Grant, and one sister, Lucy Grant. Survivors include his beloved wife Brenda Turner Grant. Survivors also include two sisters: Joyce Holland (Elger) of Columbus, Ga., and Patricia Bell of Griffin, Ga., one brother, Chester Grant (Kaye) of Forsyth, Ga., two daughters, Cindy Grant Harbort (Ken) of Tifton, Ga., and Tracy Rivers (Tripp), and two sons, Ken Grant of Tifton, Ga., and Brian Hatfield (RaNae); six grandchildren Colby Grant, Jordan Harbort, Dylan Harbort, Brandon Hatfield, Noah Rivers, and Luke Rivers. Other survivors include one sister-in-law, Doris Barton (Gene).
