Drug probe nets five arrests

AMERICUS — According to a press release from the Americus Police Department, five people were arrested and charged with drug offenses late last week.
A drug investigation was initiated Thursday at 406-A Academy St.
That resulted in the arrests of Thomas Haugabook II, 23; Maurice Devonte Antonio Harris, 22; Jacobi Montae Thomas, 17; Deontrey Marquavious Parker, 21; and Donta Taril Walton, 18. All five are charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and two counts of felony theft by receiving stolen property. Jacobi Thomas was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
The Americus Police Department also issued aggravated assault warrants for Desie Arnez Williams and Chauncey Narod Goodwin. The warrants stem from an incident involving gun fire that occurred on Aug. 8 at 701 Davenport St.
