Southland Academy has interesting visitors throughout the year, and one their highlights of the year is the dedication of the yearbook.

Mary Beth Rogers aka Sloan Arnold’s Meme read to the 3K Blueberries and taught the children how to use their heads and fingers to create art. She is a retired art teacher. Also, Ruth Jones (former Southland Academy French teacher and Kenzie Jones aka Miss Gat) read to the 3K Blueberries weekly. Shown are Mary Beth Rogers with granddaughter Sloan Arnold.)

The 2016 edition of the Southland Academy Raider yearbook was presented to Headmaster Ty Kinslow and the student body prior to the end of the 2015-16 school year. The Raider staff selected the theme ‘Whose House? ... Our House!’ inviting all to take pride in their school and to acknowledge the opportunities, guidance, and relation-ships offered to them at Southland. The recipient of the yearbook dedication was science teacher Rosalind Gatian, who was lauded for her rapport with her students, her knowledge of her subject matter, and her gregarious nature with her colleagues. Editor Amber Jones remarked, ‘If ever a house had a more irreplaceable ornament, it would be this inspiring teacher.’ Shown with Gatian are senior members of the yearbook staff. Other members of the yearbook staff are Rachel Grimes, Kendall Kirkland, Morgan Jones, Louise Quillope, and Mary Martin Shealy. Dana Dillard is the faculty adviser.
