Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to Town Creek Circle to an overheated ceiling fan motor.
• Firefighters responded to Sun Valley Drive and Forsyth Street to a report on an odor. Nothing was found.
• Firefighters responded to Town Creek Circle and installed a smoke detector.
• Firefighters responded to Lambert Street to a report of a water heater that had burst.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on North Lee Street which was accidentally triggered.
• Firefighters responded to a smoke detector alarm on South Hampton Street which was a result of cooking.
• Firefighters responded to 29 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to Oak Avenue and West Hill Street to a report of a telephone pole leaning on an electrical wire. They found a telephone poll that had been broken off about six feet from its base, and it was leaning on a power line and telephone lines. After investigation, AT&T guaranteed the pole would not fall.
• Firefighters responded to Sun Valley Drive to a rekindle of an outside storage fire.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Hickory Drive where someone had left a pot on the stove.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Tripp and Parker streets.
• Firefighters responded to the Sumter County Youth Development Campus after being asked or assistance in removing handcuffs from a juvenile. They use bolt cutters to remove them.
• Firefighters responded to Tom Hall Circle to a report of s structure fire. Upon arrival it was determined that the structure was located across the fence on Rainbow Terrace, which is in the county. Americus Fire personnel extinguished the fire.
• Firefighters responded to Forrest Street to a tree limb down. They found two limbs on a line and stood by until Georgia Power arrived.
Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Mayo Street.
• Firefighters responded to West Furlow Street and Jackson Avenue where they removed a large tree limb blocking one lane.
• Firefighters responded to Valley Drive to a report of a lightning strike. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Tripp and East Furlow streets.
• Firefighters responded to Valley Drive and Valley Way to a report of a wire down. They found a wire burning in the grass. They stood by for Georgia Power.
• Firefighters responded to Daniel Street Way to a report of a wire down. They found a wire burning in the grass. They stood by for Georgia Power.
• Firefighters responded to Peyton Circle to extinguish a small grass fire.
• Firefighters responded to Pinecrest Drive to a report of a structure fire. They found the panel box had fire damage. They pulled the meter and advised occupants to stay somewhere else to stay until they could install a new panel box.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm in Post Way. It was a false activation.
• Firefighters stood by for a football game at Southland Academy.
• Firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire on East Furlow Street where they found heavy gray smoke coming from the structure. Police had forced the occupant to leave the structure. They extinguished the fire that started above and around the stove.
• Firefighters responded to East Glessner Street to extinguish an outside rubbish fire.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Bessie Mays Circle. The activation was caused by steam from the shower.
• Firefighters responded to Felder Street to a report of a vehicle fire. No flames were showing on arrival but there was charring underneath the hood.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Hudson Street.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Academy Street which was caused by cooking.

Arrests
• Diamonique K. Wilson, 18, of of 103-A Norman Cole St., Americus is charged with assault-battery and criminal trespass.
• Michael R. Wilson, 32, of 320 Brady Road, Americus is charged with probation violation, and was jailed.

Ellaville Police Department

Arrest
• Steven G. McClendon, 29, of 146 Ebenezer Road, Ellaville is charged with felony first-degree burglary, and was jailed.

• Gary A. Daniels, 26, of 202 Elliot St., Americus is charged with false imprisonment, misdemeanor battery (Family Violence Act), and criminal trespass, and was jailed.

• Nathan B. Fowler, 21, of 113 Ga. Highway 27 East, Americus is charged with driving while license is suspended or revoked, and was released on bond.
• Clemond C. Glover, 44, of 919 Davenport St., Americus is charged with commercial vehicle parts and accessories violation, commercial vehicle driver qualification violation, no expired Georgia Interstate Motor Carrier registration, and was released on bond.
• Oscar H. Gonzalez, 53, of 107 Whisperwood Court, Americus is charged with DUI, driving while unlicensed and seat violation, and was released on bond.
• Henry J. Hartsfield, 22, of Bronwood is charged with DUI and failure to maintain lane, and was released on bond.
• Marquis J. McCoy, 26, of 140 Lonnie Lane, Apt. 247, Americus is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless driving, driving while license is suspended or revoked and seat belt violation, and was jailed.
• Aaron P.C. Mitchell, 20, of 100 Hayes Ave., Ellaville is charged with DUI and driving while license is suspended or revoked, and was jailed.
• Amos L. Moore, 40, of 218-A Lorraine Ave., Americus is charged with speeding and driving while license is suspended or revoked, and was released on bond.
• Steven M. Morris, 22, of 306-B W. Church St., Americus is charged with failure to appear I court, and was released on bond.
• Franklin E. Mott, 22, of 16th Green, Apt. 205-E, Americus is charged with driving under the influence of drugs, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and failure to obey stop sign, and was released on bond.
