AMERICUS — GreaterGood.com, an online fundraising platform that’s raised over $32 million for charities since 1999, is an advocate for the Boys & Girls Club. Brittany John, Health, Hunger & Education Program manager for the organization flew from Tucson, Arizona, to Americus to interview Shirley Green Reese, Ph.D., on her experience as a young girl locked away in the Leesburg Stockade and how that experience shaped her into the person she is today. They ventured to Leesburg to visit the Stockade, a place where Reese has not been in since 1963, and captured Reese’s story in the very place she’d been locked away, along with 15 others, for two months.
GreaterGood.com became familiar with the story of the Leesburg Stockade and reached out to Reese to help raise funds for the cause. Being a community leader, advocate for the youth, and president of the Boys & Girls Club, Reese asked that all funds go to support the Bill Harris Boys & Girls Club. Funds received will support the club’s programs and projects.
