SUMTER CITY — Mr. Bobby Edward Scott, age 83, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, at his home at Sumter City.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with the Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The following gentlemen were asked to serve as pallbearers: Pete E. Scott Jr. Jonathan L. Scott, Richard Converse, Hunter Caraway, Patrick Sparks, and Jimmy Scott.

Honorary pallbearers included Bubba Scott, Buck Scott, Christopher Saint, and Ed Scott.

The family received friends between the hours of 1 and 2 p.m. Saturday at Hancock Funeral Home, and at other times at the family residence, 356 Cornwell Road.

 

Born July 16, 1933. in Lee County, he was a son of the late Earnest Scott and Agnus Irene Smith Scott. Mr. Scott was a self-employed mechanic, and was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include two sons: Gregory Brent Scott and Tyre Downs Scott; five grandchildren: Pete Scott Jr. (Kimberly), Jonathan Lamar Scott (Victoria), Gregory Brent Scott Jr. (Michelle), Angie McGrother (Jason), and Megan Annette Scott; a daughter-in-law, Dianne H. Thomason; one brother, Ed Scott; four sisters: Lissie Partain, Annette Titshaw, Elizabeth Ivey, and Roxie Jo Brady; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces, including Shirley Bush.

Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his loving wife, Annette Downs Scott; by a son, Pete Edward Scott; a brother, Kenneth Scott; and two sisters: Minnie Ott and Maddie Elder.
