AMERICUS — RDR Car, Truck & Van Rentals of Americus has partnered with Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) to bring a student rental car to GSW’s campus. Mike Shattles, owner of RDR, delivered the car – a Toyota Corolla – to campus Sept. 6.
“We are pleased to partner with Georgia Southwestern State University in offering this local service to their students,” said Shattles, a GSW alumnus. “Everyone in Americus, in any business, understands how important the college students are to our local economy.”
“The RDR rental program is an extension of our commitment to being a community-engaged institution,” said GSW Interim President Charles Patterson. “This provides students with expanded access to transportation options to travel and shop in the area, while also supporting local businesses in our community.”
The rental car will be parked in a designated space on campus adjacent to the Public Safety Building and the Marshall Student Center. Students who are interested in renting the vehicle will be able to reserve it on RDR’s website (rdrrentals.com/gsw-student-rental-car).
To rent a vehicle, GSW students must have a valid driver’s license, be 21 years old and have a GSW student ID. For in-town usage, the rate will be $8.99 per hour, which does not include gas. For trips less than 200 miles, the car may be rented for $31.95 per day.
