Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 34 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Valley Drive. The occupants said that one of the minors they had with them has pressed the fire button but they had entered to code but were not around the phone when the alarm company called.
• Firefighters responded to Barbara Battle Way in response to a report of a power line arcing and setting the grass on fire. Several others in the area said their power was out. Georgia Power was contacted.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Bessie Mays Circle. They found no hazards.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at Tripp and Lamar streets.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Lewis Lowe Court.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a possible structure fire on Eastview Circle. The occupant said the breaker has tripped going to the water heater and popped with a burning smell when they reset it. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at East Lamar Street and Windsor Avenue.
• Firefighters stood by at Southland Academy for a football game.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Joyce Court which turned out to be an alarm clock sounding.
• Firefighters stood by at Americus Sumter High School for a football game.
• Firefighters responded to Barlow Street to a report of a power line down. They found a power line pole had fallen in the yard along with cable and phone lines. They notified Georgia Power.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Forsyth Street.
• Firefighters responded to Railroad and Mayo streets to a report of a wild land fire. They found a small grass fire which was out but smoldering.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Andrews Drive which was activated by a t-shirt left over a bedroom lamp. There was no fire but smoke, which they ventilated.
• Firefighters responded to South Hampton and Railroad streets to a report of a tree limb in the roadway. They found a tree limb blocking one lane of traffic and removed it.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at East Lamar and Prince streets.
• Firefighters responded to Furlow Charter School, 300 Cherokee St., to an alarm, which was activated by a child. There was no fire.
• Firefighters responded to Glenn Street where the resident needed help with faulty smoke detectors.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Lamar Street in which one driver was extricated.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at North Lee and East Forsyth streets.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at North Lee and Prince streets.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident at East Glessner Street and Elm Avenue.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on Southerfield Road.
• Firefighters responded to Rawley Road to a report of a brush fire where they found three piles of vegetation burning with a break around each pile. No one was around. When they couldn’t locate the property owner, they extinguished the fire.
