Blackshear hired as SGTC custodian for Americus campus

AMERICUS  — Elijah Blackshear of Americus has joined South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) as a full-time custodian for the Americus campus, announced SGTC President  John Watford, Ed.D. He will report to SGTC Maintenance Director Jeff Wiseman and Assistant to the President Don Smith.
Blackshear has been working with ARAMARK Food Services as a utility maintenance technician on the SGTC campus since 1991. He has also been working with Diverseco ABM for the past four years as a part-time janitor on the Georgia Southwestern State University campus.
Now as a full-time custodian with SGTC, his primary area of responsibility will be to maintain and care for the SGTC  John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center building in addition to other duties as assigned.
SGTC’s John M. Pope Industrial Technology Center hosts approximately 20,000 visitors each year through continuing education, workforce development training sessions, and meetings for the college and different organizations. It also houses several different college credit programs such as drafting, electrical line worker, electronics, industrial maintenance, machine tool, and electrical systems programs.
