A police chase, followed by a foot trace, ended in a shooting early Saturday

A trooper from Georgia State Patrol Post 10, Americus, was pursuing a suspect in a vehicle around 1 a.m. Saturday in the area of Upper River Road and Marvin McNeill Road in rural Sumter County when the suspect’s vehicle wrecked. A foot chase ensued ending in a physical tussle. The suspect was shot and airlifted to a Macon County hospital. As of Saturday around lunchtime, personnel with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Region 3 Americus Office were on the scene. These are the only details the Times-Recorder has at this time.
