Chamineak 2nd, Hurricanes 12th at McDonough Cup

ORLANDO, Fla. – Both the Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) golf team and senior, Ethan Chamineak, fired tournament low’s in Round 3 at the McDonough Cup on Nov. 1 at Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando.
Chamineak turned in a score of 70 in the second round of the tournament the previous day at the tournament to sit tied for fourth place among a field of 96 golfers. The GSW player posted a score of 72 in the initial round.
The GSW men’s golf team posted back-to-back 303’s to sit 13th of 18 teams after two rounds on the 72-par, 6955-yard course at Rio Pinar Country Club.
The Hurricanes made their move on Nov. 2, improving their tournament average with a 295 to move up one spot and finish 12th of 18 teams with a three-round 901.
Rollins College led the tournament and finished on top with a three-under, three-round 861. Flagler finished second with an 870 while Georgia College and Lander tied for third with three-round scores of 875.
Chamineak posted a 69 in Round three after turning in a score of 72 in Round one and a tournament low 70 in round two to sit two-under par as he headed into round three.
Nicholas Ward posted a tournament low 73 in round three to move up 13 spots to tie with teammate Alex Wells. Both finished tied for 48th with a three-round score of 228.
Of the 18 teams participating in the event, five are ranked inside the Top-25 of the DII Bushnell GolfWeek Coaches’ Poll with five others receiving votes, including GSW.
