James R. Holloway: Nov. 3, 2016

James Robert (Bob) Holloway passed away Nov. 3, 2016. He was born Nov. 11, 1936, in Jacksonville, Fla. Bob’s family moved to Americus, Ga., when he was about 3 years old. He attended school in Americus, graduating from Americus High School in 1954. He was the son of E. W. Holloway Sr. and Bobbie Estelle Pilcher.

He is survived by a brother, Dr. E.W. Holloway Jr. (Virginia) of Macon; his wife of 53 years of happy marriage, Barbara Dale Fain Holloway; a daughter, Dawn Holloway; sisters-in-law, Martha Fain Pope (Ray) of Richland, Wash.; Mary Jane Fain Ethridge (Carl) of Oglethorpe, Ga.; and Melanie Fain (Kathy Forney) of Washougal, Wash.; a brother-in-law: Leo B. Fain, Jr (Christine) of Rockledge, Fla., and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Bob served in the U.S. Navy after which he attended Georgia Tech, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial management in 1965. After completing his education at Georgia Tech, he began his career with Georgia Power Company and attended night school at Berry College where he earned his master’s of business administration.

Bob had a 30-year career with Georgia Power Co. He held assignments in both Atlanta and Rome, but most of his career was out of the Rome office where, prior to retirement, he was the Division Auditor for the Northwest Division of the Georgia Power Company.

The family received friends at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, in Daniel Hall of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with a service following at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Peter’s with the Rev. John Foster Herring presiding. Interment will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Ga.

Bob was a Life Member of the Rome Noon Optimist Club where he served as the Club’s 1970 – 1971 president.

The family asked that members of the Rome Noon Day Optimist Club serve as honorary pallbearers.
