ELLAVILLE, Ga. —  Mr. John Alfred McChargue, age 50, of Americus, Ga., died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, in the chapel of Watson-Giddens Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Americus. Brother Troy Fripp will officiate.  

Mr. McChargue was born Feb. 9, 1966, in Sumter County, the son of the late Ralph and Vivian McChargue. He was retired from Cooper Lighting. Mr. McChargue was a family man who loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He was a diehard Georgia Bulldog fan. Mr. McChargue loved God and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Lynne McChargue of Americus, Ga.; three brothers, Jack Lockwood and wife June of Uvalda, Ga., Dave McChargue and wife Judy of Perry, Ga., David Lockwood of Cairo, Ga.; father and mother-in-law, Bert and Lynda Dickerson of Americus, Ga.; two brothers-in-law, Clark Tomlinson and wife Alaina of Randleman, N.C., Kevin Tomlinson and wife Beth of Suwanee, Ga.; three sisters- in-law, Lisa Waters and husband Truman of Americus, Ga., Leslie Williams and husband Bartow of Buena Vista, Ga., Crystal Richards and husband Brian of Warner Robins, Ga. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews, Colby Eason and wife Laurel, Levi Waters, Lacey Williams, Traci Introcaso and husband Michael, Troy Lockwood and wife Amanda, Jesse Bell, Megan Lockwood, Allen McChargue, Allison McChargue, Jake Whittington, Ethan Tomlinson, Laney McChargue, Emily Abell; five great-nieces and -nephews, Kinsley Eason, Owen Introcaso, Haylie Introcaso, Jackson Lockwood, and TysonLockwood. In addition to his parents, Mr. McChargue was preceded in death by his son, Trent Alfred McChargue; two brothers, Henry Whittington and Allen McChargue.

Active pallbearers will be Mr. McChargue’s nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the employees of Cooper Lighting.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Bartow and Leslie Williams, 2040 Ga. Highway 30, Buena Vista, Ga.
