AMERICUS — Joanne Bass Jones, 85, of Leslie, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus. She was born Feb. 27, 1931, in Ellaville, to the late John Arthur Battle and Ruth Highnote Battle. She was a member of Talbotton United Methodist Church. She was very active in her church, loved fishing, the beach, and enjoyed painting.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel in Americus. At other times the family may be contacted at the home of Miriam Williams, 126 S. Bailey Ave. in Leslie. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Leslie City Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, Freddie Bass Jr. (Frances) of Leslie; and four daughters: Pam Kennedy (Wayne) of Leslie, Karen Simons (James) of Leesburg, Miriam Bass Williams of Leslie, and Joanne Bass of Leslie. Also surviving are her brother, John Arthur Battle of Guyton; and a number of grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred “Buddy” Bass; and her second husband, John Damon Jones; two sisters, Jean Eason and Glynda Avery; and one great-grandson Jase Eric Davenport.
