GBI announces promotion of Bill Bodrey as Special Agent in Charge

AMERICUS —  The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announces the promotion of Bill Bodrey as Special Agent in Charge of the GBI’s Region 5 office in Statesboro, Georgia. SAC Bodrey will be responsible for the supervision of the Special Agents assigned to the Region 5 Office and he will oversee the investigation of criminal cases conducted by his agents for law enforcement agencies throughout the Region 5 territory.
Bodrey began his law enforcement career in 1996, as a deputy with the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office. In that capacity, he was assigned fulltime to the Oconee Drug Task Force as a Task Force Agent. In August 2000, he became a Special Agent with the GBI and was assigned to the Macon Regional Drug Enforcement Office and the Region 13 Office in Perry. From there he was assigned to the Special Operations Unit until he was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Region 12 Office in Eastman and the Region 13 Office in Perry.
Bodrey is a Certified Bomb Technician and a member of the International Association of Bomb Technicians. Bodrey graduated from Southland Academy High School in 1991,  and then went on to receive his bachelor of science in psychology from Georgia Southwestern State University.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is comprised of three divisions: the Georgia Crime Information Center, the Crime Laboratory, and the Investigative Division. The agency has 854 employees and a budget of $96 million. Bodrey will be assigned to GBI’s Investigative Division.
