Local entrepreneur to keynote GSW Commencement Dec. 9

AMERICUS — Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) holds its Fall 2016 Commencement ceremony at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9 in Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center. The commencement speaker will be Jessica Wright. Wright, a registered nurse, is the co-owner and chief operating officer of Innovative Senior Solutions in Americus.
A graduate of Darton College, Wright has over 10 years of experience in long-term care and healthcare management, serving in many roles of nursing from certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nurse to registered nurse. She is also the founder of the Caring 4 Seniors Foundation.
Innovative Senior Solutions (ISS) was established in 2007, and it became the first licensed home care provider in Sumter County. They provide personal care and sitter services to seniors and/or disabled individuals in their home.
From humble beginnings working out of a cubicle at South Georgia Technical College’s Business Expansion Center, Wright and her sister and co-owner, Eshonda Blue, moved ISS to their downtown Americus location in the summer of 2014. Blue is a GSW alumna and trustee of the GSW Foundation. In nine years, ISS has grown to over 100 employees.
Faculty Senate President and associate professor of computing and mathematics, Chadwick Gugg, Ph.D., will serve as the Macebearer during commencement. Burchard (Burt) Carter, Ph.D., professor of geology and physics, will be the Grand Marshal.
Over 400 students are expected to graduate. Limited seating will be available. Guests are encouraged to arrive early.
