AMERICUS — The Georgia State Patrol Post 10, Americus, has released the final report on a traffic fatality that occurred Nov. 15.
According to the report, the Post was notified of the crash at 6:21 p.m. Nov. 15 and responded to the intersection of U.S. Highway 19 North and old 19 in Schley County.
The trooper’s narrative states that Jacob P. Anderson, 18, of Fortson, driving an Acura Integra, was traveling south on 19 in the outside lane without headlights on, while Edgar A. Harden, 49, of 288 Callaway Drive, Ellaville, driving a Ford Superduty truck owned by Georgia Forest Products Inc. of Americus, was traveling north on 19. Harden attempted a left turn onto old 19, and the truck struck the Acura driver’s side door, after which the Acura traveled about 110 ft. across old 19 and came to rest on the west should of 19. Meanwhile, the truck came to a stop on old 19 to avoid being struck by traffic traveling on 19 southbound. Anderson was killed in the crash.
Another traffic accident investigated by Post 10 resulted in airlifting a patient.
Post 10 was notified at 7:34 a.m. Nov. 20 to U.S. Highway 280 West at its intersection with Bob Dodson Road in Sumter County.
According to accident report narrative, Emmett A. Eades, 21, of 1034 Elm Ave., Apt. 1A, Americus, driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee, was traveling south on Bob Dodson Road and failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with 280. The Jeep traveled across both lanes of 280 into a private driveway where it struck a bush with its front and undercarriage. The Jeep continued to travel south, striking a tree and a guy wire with its front side, coming to rest facing southwest in a private drive south of 280. The driver was injured, and airlifted to Medical C enter of Central Georgia in Macon.
