ANDERSON, S.C. — Mary Easter Tillman, age 90, of Americus, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, S.C. She was born April 4, 1926, in Cherokee County to the late Joseph Henry Garner and Lena Leola Howard. Mrs. Tillman was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church, and loved gardening and cooking and being with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel with Stephen Pinnell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Burial will be held at 3 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Moultrie. Pallbearers include Allan Lee, Jordan Tillman, David McMahon, Chris Carswell, and Jerry Young.

Survivors include her three daughters and sons-in-law: Ann and Steve Carswell of Hartwell, Carol and Floyd Crosby of Sasser, and Connie and Donnie Stanfill of Camilla; two sons and daughter-in-law: Perry and Peggy Tillman of Crestview, Fla., and Gentry Tillman of Americus. Also surviving is a brother, W.H. “Bill” Garner of Sanford, Fla. In addition, she leaves behind seven grandchildren: Susan and Jared George, Christy and Allan Lee, Jennifer Stanfill, Jessica and Jerry Young, Chris and Christina Carswell, Tony Tillman and Jordan Tillman, and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2007, J.G. Tillman.
