Boyce T. Rush III: Dec. 27, 2016

Boyce Tucker Rush III, age 48, of Americus, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2016. He was known as “Tuck” to many. He was born Dec. 1, 1968 at Sumter County Hospital to Mary Laing Rush and Tucker Rush Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sheryl Purvis Rush; a son, Robert Tucker “Rob” Rush; a daughter, Mary Nell Rush; and his parents, Tucker and Mary Laing Rush, all of Americus. Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Julie Rush Schramm (David) of Lawrenceville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Teresa and Keith Teasley of Americus; and his mother-in-law, Nell Welch Purvis of Americus. In addition, he had several nieces and nephews that he adored, and a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Tuck graduated in 1987, from Americus High School. In high school, he was the starting center of the AHS football team in 1985 and 1986. He loved his coaches and teammates. He graduated from Georgia Southwestern College in 1991, with a business degree. While in college, he was a proud member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. During this time he made many lifelong brothers. In 1997, he went on to pass his CPA exam and at that time became a partner with the firm of Rush and Rush CPAs. Tuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, Alabama Crimson Tide football, and flying with Rick Urash, his flight instructor.

The family will receive friends at 410 Pecan Drive. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at First United Methodist Church in Americus. Dr. Marcus Tripp and the Rev. Lloyd Thomas will officiate the service.
