The Numeracy Team at Sumter County Middle School established a plan to reward math students for their efforts and motivation to meet and exceed the district initiatives pertaining to student math growth. Students took the Star Math Test at the beginning of the year to obtain their starting point. Their growth would be determined by the gains made from the initial Star Math Test to the second Start Math Test. The ward theme Accelerated Math Kickback was used to reward student growth. Students were given a ticket to attend the event. During the event, students were allowed to socialize with friends, dance, use their electronic devices, and play basketball. Their names were entered into a drawing for various prizes. The students with the most gains were awarded baskets.
