AMERICUS — Investigators with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office are still looking for a suspect who robbed Double D Foods on Felder Street around 12:30 p.m. Thursday.
Sumter County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy, Col. Eric Bryant, said that a white male, between 5’8” and 5’11” in height, entered the store and reached over the cash register, grabbing a handful of cash and fleeing on foot. A vendor inside the store, along with the store manager, chased the man down Felder Street before the suspect vanished into a wooded area located near the new apartment complex.
Bryant said authorities are working with the surveillance camera people to enhance videos of the incident in hopes it will lead to the identity of the suspect. He asks that anyone having information about the incident please call the sheriff’s office at 229-924-4094.
