The Americus Blue Tide (ABT) Swim Team’s 14-year old sprint star, Antony DeMott, won the ‘C’ final at the Georgia Short Course State Swimming Championships last month, setting a new team (47.91) record in the 100-yard freestyle event. Swimming against competitors twice his age, DeMott was the fastest in his age group by over a second and a half. DeMott set a personal-best time in the 50-yard freestyle (21.77) as well, winning the ‘D’ in that event. Again, DeMott was the fastest in his age group by over half a second. He also completed his stellar performance with personal bests in the 100-yard breastroke (1:05.50), and the 100-yard backstroke (56.55).
Up next, the ABT will compete at the Ralph Crocker Classic at Auburn University with a team of thirteen athletes that includes: Taylor Bacon, Allison Bell, Lanna Bell, Lynnsey Bell, Jordan Brown, Timothy Chase-Hill, Alex Collins, Antony DeMott, Kalman DeMott, Eleanor Driggers, Emma Elliott, Tissa Evans, Kelli Hill, Taylor Humphrey, Daniel Iordanov, Madison Keen, Ada Larson, Landry Liston, and Cole Parkinson.
