AMERICUS —”LOTTO Love,” the 28th annual theater event sponsored by the Sumter County Friends of the Library is set for two performances this weekend. The play promises to entertain as usual.

On Saturday, doors to Lake Blackshear Regional Library open at 7:30 p.m. and the performance starts at 8:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and include heavy hors d’oeuvres and wine. Groups of eight may request reserved seating if tickets are purchased prior to Saturday. There will be smaller tables and lounge seating on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door Saturday.

 

The Sunday matinee performance is at 3 p.m. with doors opening at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and include homemade refreshments. Sunday is auditorium seating, and tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door Sunday afternoon.

 

Kevin Kwashnak is the director of the play this year, and also is a cast member, along with Rene Smith, Angela Smith, Roland Kaufmann, Jane Hendrix, Hope Henderson, Anne Isbell, Bill Krenson, and Linda Erkhart.

The play centers on a small-town local woman, Myra Moon, winning $10 million in LOTTO. After the shock of winning, she wants to help her family and she gathers her Moon cousins together to see who might be the most deserving. None of the cousins are exactly what they seem, but with the help of her new assistant, Fernando, she finally makes up her mind.

The play stars Linda Erkhart, Hope Henderson, Jane Hendrix, Angela Smith, Rene Smith, Anne Isbell, Roland Kauffman, Bill Krenson, and Kevin Kwashnak, with a special appearance by Michelle Andrews.

The play is directed by Kevin Kwashnak and is loosely based on an idea from Kim Fuller.
