AMERICUS — Southland Academy Headmaster Ty Kinslow announced that Zayd Hasnain is the STAR student for the 2016-2017 school year. The STAR student award is a top academic achievement given annually to a senior class member who has the highest SAT score in one sitting and is in the top 10 or top 10 percent of the school’s graduating class. The PAGE Foundation Program of Excellence coordinates the program.
Each STAR student has the privilege of naming a STAR teacher. This year Hasnain has selected Patty Webb as his STAR teacher. Webb teaches AP calculus, honors pre-calculus, MOWR college algebra, and MOWR statistics. She has been a teacher at Southland Academy for 28 years.
Hasnain is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Baqar Hasnain of Americus.
