A word from Sumter Cycling: Winter warm-up cycling ride

Published 10:28 am Tuesday, February 21, 2017

Sumter Cycling hosted a bicycle ride on Feb. 4. In spite of cooler temperatures from the previous week, twenty-seven cyclists completed various distances of 12, 30 or 72 miles.
Although the majority of riders were local cycling enthusiasts, several came from outlying areas including Atlanta, Warner Robbins, Albany and Adel, proving once again that Sumter and Schley Counties are attractive tourist destinations for cyclists.
This ride was the kick-off event for the monthly “First Saturday” rides hosted by Sumter Cycling.
Cyclists are invited to check the Sumter Cycling website for upcoming rides and other events.
Speaking of events, mark your calendar for Monday, March 13, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. for the annual meeting of Sumter Cycling hosted by Café Campesino on Lamar Street in downtown Americus.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information to cycling enthusiasts about Sumter Cycling and the projects currently underway. Additionally, the meeting provides an opportunity for cycling enthusiasts to meet fellow cyclists, provide input, and to learn how you can get involved. All of this takes place while enjoying a hot bowl of homemade chili.
We look forward to seeing you at the annual meeting and on the road!
