AMERICUS — Phoebe Stanfield Horne, 90, of Andersonville, died March 3, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1926, in Franklin, N.C., to the late Sam Stanfield and Lillie Rogers Stanfield. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus, where she taught Sunday school, and was in the Benevolence Sunday School class. She was a Pink Lady at Sumter Regional Hospital and a great stenographer. Along with her husband, T. W. Horne, they opened Pecan World retail mail order store. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, and friend.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 6, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Americus. The Rev. Keith Parks will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2p.m., one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law: Theron Wesley Horne Jr. and his wife Lillian of Dothan, Ala., and Michael W. Horne Sr. and his wife Carolyn of Andersonville. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Bryan and Shannon Horne, Kevin and Tracy Horne, Kimberly and Clint Folmar, Kelly Ann and Scott Wachob, and Michael and Christine Horne; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.W. Horne; four sisters: Ora Raby, Mattie Stanfield, Belle Crunkleton, and Etta Morgan; and three brothers: Oline Stanfield, T.L. Stanfield, and Willie Stanfield.
