Americus Fire & Emergency Services

• Firefighters responded to 27 calls for medical assistance.
• Firefighters responded to a traffic accident on East Lamar Street.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a transformer on fire on East Forsyth Street. Nothing was found.
• Firefighters responded to a report of a possible structure fire on Knollwood Drive. They found no fire but a lighting ballast had broken down.
• Firefighters responded to Ridge Street to the report of a burn in the backyard. They found a small fire confined to a chimenea.
• Firefighters responded to Beale Street to a possible structure fire. No hazards were found.
• Firefighters responded to a vehicle v. pedestrian accident on Knollwood Drive.
• Firefighters responded to the dining hall at Georgia Southwestern State University in reference to a gas line needing to be turned off. They found smoke throughout the dining hall. Campus Security advised a fire in a fryer in the kitchen had been extinguished. They shut off the gas.
• Firefighters responded to an alarm on Ga. Highway 27 East. No hazards were found.

• James L. Davis, 63, of 950 Anthony Drive, Apt. 19-A, Americus is charged with terroristic threats and acts, and was jailed.
