ELLAVILLE, Ga. — Mr. Gerald “Jerry” James Lewthwaite, 52, of Americus, Ga., passed away after an extended illness, peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 11, 2017. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, with a celebration of life to begin at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Lewthwaite was born on Dec. 20, 1964, in Camp Pendleton, Calif., to Wilfred T. Lewthwaite and Wenola Hamm. He last worked with Pro Fleet Transport out of Elkhart, Ind., as a truck driver, and he loved every minute of it. Jerry was always a jokester and loved making people laugh. In his earlier years, he enjoyed drawing. Mr. Lewthwaite was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred T. Lewthwaite.
Survivors include his two sons, Levi Lewthwaite and his fiancée, Mercedes Boring, and Hunter Lewthwaite, both of Americus; his mother, Wenola Lewthwaite Dickerson and her husband, John of Americus; a sister, Tanya White of Americus; stepbrother, Craig Dickerson and wife Katie of Americus; three stepsisters, Renee’ Becton and husband Doug of Americus, Gail Wall and husband Hank of Americus, Mary Jane Dickerson of Roswell, Ga.; aunt, Lynda Payne of Eufaula, Ala.; two nieces, Ciera Gay and Tasha White; a nephew, Timothy White; special first cousins, Dawn Childs and her husband Ben and Thomas Payne, all of Eufaula, Ala.; the mother to his children, Rhonda Lewthwaite and her mother, Lois Gay; and a brother-in-law, Donny Gay and his wife, Chys of Greenville, N.C.
