AMERICUS — Mrs. Jacqueline “Evelyn” H. Tanner, age 85, of Oglethorpe, Georgia, passed away Monday morning, March 13, 2017, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus, Georgia with Pastor Matthew Shallenberger officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Watson-Mathews Funeral Home.

Mrs. Tanner was born on July 23, 1931, in Plains, Georgia, to the late John Heath and Evelyn Bell LaVen Heath. She worked as a medical secretary for Sumter Regional Hospital in Americus, Georgia, and was a faithful member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Survivors include her three sons; Mark Tanner of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Dennis Tanner of Cordele, Georgia, and Eric (Laura) Tanner of Chattanooga, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; Amelie Evelyn Tanner, James Dustin Tanner (Deborah Mann), Zachary Mark Tanner, Leah June Tanner, Jonathon Ryan Tanner, Alexandra Joye Tanner and Nathan DeWild. She was preceded in death by her husband James R. “Jimmy” Tanner; her son, Tommy Tanner; and one brother, John Heath.
