Pre-k students follow a structured daily schedule each day. One part of the daily routine is small group time. Small group time is basically just what its name indicates. Students work in small groups on a task designed by teachers to meet one or more of the Georgia Pre-k Early Learning and Development Standards. During this time, students can work on skills that require extra practice or learn a new skill. The activities are quite often very active and play based so that young students stay actively engaged. Most days, they don’t even realize teachers have taught them something new because they are having so much fun! Students in Heather Harmon’s pre-k class are shown here during a variety of different small group activities.
